Library
Mission Statement: The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. (Information Power for Washington State, 1991, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction).
Goals of the library media program: - To teach students to be effective users and creators of information.
- To inspire a love of literature, learning, and libraries.
- To provide materials and access to resources that enable students, staff, and faculty to meet their individual information need.
- To assist teachers in finding resources which enhance learning experiences in the classroom.
Eton students visit the library with their class once a week to listen to stories, learn information management and literature skills, and to check out and return books. Research has shown that a "strong library media program helps students learn more" (School Library Journal, April 2000). By exposing our students to quality books and teaching them information management and literature skills, we are confident that they will develop important skills and knowledge that they will use to succeed in future endeavors.
